The most important lesson that i've learnt throughout my whole UIR journey would be how to use internet wisely to search for information. In the past, i tend to misuse the internet because i lack of knowledge on it. Through the UIR cds, i gained alot of knowledge. I've also learnt throughout this module, evaluation of internet resources. It is important because we learnt how to acknowledge its credentials and then weigh its importance and accuracy. Currency is also taken into consideration. In order to maximize the usage of the internet resources, it is important to know its purpose, coverage, usability, etc. From this, we are able to value the importance of resource and fully make use of them.
This in a very interesting cds and i think its my favourite cds out of the 3 i took. It is stress-free and i actually look forward to every lessons, which is very rare for me.
We created an account for wetpaint that allows us to put up post on our individual topic. I realised wetpaint is a good website for editing the content. It is user friendly as a result. My topic was the impact of IR on singapore's tourism industry. i've uploaded my comments on wetpaint.
We continued to do my group assignment by contributing to the wiki forum. We evaluated our topic by using appropriate criteria. I figured out how wiki works and learnt quite alot.
i did not attend UIR lesson on wednesday because of some problems. I realised i miss out quite alot on the two hour session. This shows how UIR is important. i will try my best not to miss any more lessons anymore.
Today's practical lesson is enriching because I didn't know that there are so many different types of Internet facilities - Search engines, Meta search engines and Subject directories. Most of the time when I do my research, I would use the search engine like Google. However, today's lesson allow me to expand the usage of these various facilities. It is also the first time I use subject directories. This lesson allow me to understand the similarities and differences between the different types of internet facilities, and how I can make use of them for my research topic.

i've learnt how to identify the different purposes of internet resources. And i've to cpmpare the different purposes of these internet resources. I also learnt how to create a site feed for my blog.

I've learn the different types of internet resources for different purposes. If i want information on a particular topic, i may visit those trustworthy or organizational website. If i have any en quires on any topic, i may visit discussion forums and post my questions out to the public for advices.

I also understand the impact of internet resources on the society. Imagine without the internet, We all have to rely on the media, newspapers or library for information. And often we could barely find the correct information we want. With internet resources available, things would be easier because all we need to do is filter out the information we want out of the many relevant ones.
